THE TRUTH (Part 1/3)

THE TRUTH

PART 1

Welcome to “THE TRUTH” series.

Time to take a break from self reflection posts.

I hope these next few days will give you a chance to work on some of the tools I gave you to live your best life.

We will be getting back to them.

In this series we will talk about three things:

Part 1: New diagnoses?!

Part 2: Where my health stands now and a glimpse at what I’ve been doing to control it.

Part 3: Why I haven’t been posting to the blog!

Let’s dive in.

On August 18th, 2018 I celebrated a very important anniversary.

One year since my completion of the pain management program at Mayo Clinic.

I also, at that point, realized it had been over a year since I spent a day in bed.

That, is what I call one hell of an ACCOMPLISHMENT.

In previous posts I have gone on and on about how great the program was.

& it was.

It was so great. (There will soon be a post telling you all the basics of the program and how you can be a part of it if you choose.)

But there were hard days there too.

The program is three weeks.

On Thursday afternoon of my second week, I started feeling very ill.

I struggled for five days before landing in the ER with a bladder, kidney and urinary tract infection which had made me septic.

Eventually this led to a new diagnosis.

Lupus Nephritis.

Which essentially means I have the kind of Lupus that involves your kidneys, causing stage one kidney disease for me.

Mayo arranged for me to see an immunologist in Iowa City for when I arrived home.

Since, I have also been diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis, Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria and Shingles.

Sorry for the bomb.

Unexpected, I know.

But life really has been fucking great.

Like really great.

So don’t feel bad for me.

Don’t spend an ounce of your energy worrying about me.

I am kicking it all in the ass.

& that has been my year.

I have put all my time and energy into healing this garbage bag full of chronic illness diagnoses.

Naturally, I may add.

I have done all of it without medication.

All healing has been done with lifestyle, diet and mindset.

One really great, open-minded immunologist.

& a really great therapist.

I will spend some time in the next month elaborating on the new diagnoses.

But today is not the day.

For today, just telling you is enough.

I HATE dropping this kind of stuff on people; I even struggled telling my family this one.

Because I am okay.

It always affects those who surround me so much more.

I'm just here for the ride.

& to help you who are struggling come out on the other side like I have.

Life is good, I am healthy and I feel the best I have ever felt.

There are ways to heal outside of Western medicine, folks.

Take the journey with me.
